DATE NIGHT MASSACRE - HTET & OOGONO

Music Video - Released September 29th, 2025

A series of men find themselves ensnared in an illustrious women’s arms only to meet their end during a romantic and deadly date night

EP Title - Date Night Massacrew
Song Titles - Out My Way, I Guess So, Wasted, Gooey
    Producer - Oogono
    Label - Independent

  • Date Night Massacre draws inspiration from episodic, vignette-driven narratives in the spirit of 4 Rooms, weaving four songs from singer-songwriter Thet’s newest EP into a single, cohesive visual experience. From a cinematographic standpoint, each track becomes its own contained world — a distinct chapter with a unique visual language, evolving color palette, and tonal atmosphere — while still living within one continuous night.

The camera lives intimately with Thet, observing the quiet rituals of romance and violence as if they’re one and the same. We follow her through the claustrophobic geometry of her apartment as she cleans traces of her last kill and meticulously prepares poisons for her next date, played by co-producer Oogono. The framing emphasizes proximity and tension — slow pushes, lingering close-ups, and controlled handheld movement — placing the audience uncomfortably close to both tenderness and brutality.

Each song unfolds as a self-contained vignette, allowing the lighting and composition to shift with her psychology: warm, dreamy tones that suggest longing slowly give way to colder, more clinical textures, blurring the line between hopeless romantic and calculated predator. Production design, color contrast, and shadow play work together to create a heightened, almost theatrical world that mirrors the EP’s cover art and overall creative direction.

Shot over the course of just two days, the project embraces a resourceful, handcrafted approach — prioritizing bold lighting choices, expressive camera movement, and intentional blocking to maximize tension within a single location. The result is a stylized yet intimate visual journey: a labor of love and death, told through striking, unexpected moments that keep the audience off balance until the very end.

    Style - Narrative/Performance

Notable elements - Production design plays a central role in shaping the music videos visual identity, transforming a single apartment into multiple emotional worlds. The space evolves with each chapter — shifting through color, texture, and set dressing to reflect Thet’s psychological state and the tonal arc of each song. Romantic details sit in contrast with violent undertones: soft fabrics against harsh surfaces, candlelight against stainless steel, beauty layered over decay.

Every object feels intentional and story-driven — from cleaning supplies and poisons to wardrobe, props, and practical lighting — creating a lived-in environment that supports both narrative tension and striking compositions. The design allows the camera to constantly discover new frames within the same location, giving the music video scale and variety while maintaining a cohesive, stylized look.
